Since 1739
The Mondschein has been an inn on the Arlberg Pass since 1739. In hard winters, carters and travellers waited here in the warm Stube until the moonlight guided them safely over the pass.
Hannes Schneider was born in Stuben in 1890. He developed the Arlberg technique and, in the winter of 1920/21, founded the first ski school in Austria in St. Anton.

Skiing in Stuben
The first track starts at the front door.

Breakfast with a view of the Albona, lunch in the Alte Gaststube, and in the evening the Chef's Choice, fondue or one of eight seats at the Chef's Table. Then on to the fireside.
On the first floor, looking out at the Albona ridge. Egg dishes and home-made pastries in the morning, the four-course Chef's Choice in the evening.
Dinner with half board, arrival 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm
A meeting place for skiers and travellers since 1739. Regional classics at lunchtime, alpine cooking à la carte by the tiled stove in the evening.
12 noon to 3 pm and 6 pm to 9 pm
An aperitif in the wine cellar, then a set menu at one table for no more than eight guests. Falstaff 2026: 95 points.
Monday and Friday to Sunday, from 7 pm
Two kinds of fondue in the Bilderzimmer, with 25 to 30 seats, for hotel guests and visitors alike, by reservation only.
Daily from 6 pm
After the last run on the Albona: an open fire, local fruit brandies and classic cocktails.
4 pm to midnight, Fridays until 2.30 am

Christmas in Stuben am Arlberg, a small village in the snow with the Mondschein of 1739 at its centre. On Christmas Eve Robert Schneider reads by the fire, and at midnight he plays the organ in the church.

Alpine roses, mountain huts and cool nights at 1,409 metres.
Stuben lies in the middle of Ski Arlberg. One way you ski to Zürs and Lech, the other to St. Christoph and St. Anton. All on one ski pass.

The Ski Hotel is the four-star house with restaurants, wellness, wine cellar, bar and club. The Chalet has spa suites with a private sauna or infrared cabin, two of them with a hot tub. The Arlberg Motel is a bed and breakfast right by the Albona lift.
From the Ski Hotel it is a three to four minute walk to the Albona I lift. From the Chalet it is one to two minutes to the Chalet lift, which takes you to the piste. From the Arlberg Motel it is 60 metres, ski-in and ski-out.
Check-in from 3 pm, check-out by 11 am. This applies to all three houses.
The Chalet is open all year. The Ski Hotel and the Arlberg Motel are open in the winter season, in 2026/27 from 4 December 2026 to 11 April 2027. You will find the exact dates under opening dates.
With half board, yes. The Chef's Choice is a four-course menu, new every evening, with a choice of main course. On another evening you can swap it for fondue or the Chef's Table for a supplement.
No. Lifts and slopes link Stuben with Zürs, Lech, St. Christoph and St. Anton. By train you travel to Langen am Arlberg, where our shuttle collects you on request. More under getting here.
Yes. The Ski Hotel has three saunas, two infrared cabins, a Kneipp area and a sauna balcony with mountain views. At the Chalet the spa suites have their own sauna or infrared cabin. You book massages at reception.
